--Describe your most recent POV character’s most devastating moment.

Kevin Owens again, and oh gosh, there are so many. Kevin is the King of Devastating Moments, and can turn a moderately minor setback into an universe-destroying tragedy. I would say probably losing the highest title in the business to a much older guy in about 30 seconds, that would have really upset him.

In my own writing... hey, know what really messes with one's ability to write fic of Kevin's character making out with the character his RL best friend plays? Having my gif-making Twitter account followed on Twitter by Kevin. And then his aunt. And his father. Luckily the line between the gif side of my fannish experience and the fic side of my fannish experience is pretty firm, and it's really delightful to know he likes my gifs! It just means I'm spending a lot of time staring at a blinking cursor and muttering "It's his character, not him. You'll keep it locked. You can do this. OH GOD HIS DAD FOLLOWS ME ON TWITTER." /o\ Wish me luck with this very, very weird case of writer's block, friends. I hope your fannish experience is less tumultuous right now!

Oops, almost missed this.

I'd say that Padma's worst moment was when her parents threw her out for being queer and utterly unrepentant about it. She's is never, ever, ever going back because it was just that bad.

Jaden's most devastating moment has yet to happen. It's the moment (in about 10 chapters or so) that her relationship with Padma is real. Really real. Something that could last for the rest of their lives. That she'd be happy spending her live at Padma's side.

Because Jaden's never allowed herself to dream of that and the thought of screwing it up when it looks so good just about destroys her.

...Yes, I am nervous about writing this scene but I'm building the whole novel around it so I guess I'll just have to give it my best shot. *whines a little*

*grin* I think I might crawl in a hole if I had your problem. I mean, really? Him and his parents?????? Yikes! Cool in the extreme but also so much yikes. Good luck on that! *squees for you*

Ooooh, that sounds like a challenge indeed! That's going to be (or has been, considering how far behind I am) a really intense scene to write. I hope it goes well, keep me posted!

Damn I thought I replied to this, but I guess I didn't hit post. Luckily I had a copy of this saved!

Aaah I've been so busy. I wrote over 100k last month (and finished nothing really lol) and somehow I'm not totally burned out! That damn Saitou and Sano just keep me going... And I really need to be writing for other fandoms and pairings right now... but I'm drowning reveling in those sweet Meiji Husbands.

Ah... Sanosuke's most devastating moment... It was watching Saitou turn away, with that awful smirk on his face, as he smoked his cigarette and waited for the fire to consume him, and Sanosuke could do nothing but watch one of the strongest men he'd ever know be swept away in fire. Only, Saitou is a real prick and didn't die and Sano doesn't find this out for quite some time. Good basis for strong and lasting relationships~~~ Also, a lot of fun with 'ghost' sex since Sano is a drunk anyway and Saitou is, again, a total prick.

OMGGG!!! I couldn't even imagine having that happen, someone famous like that following something of mine. That would totally mess with my head too. ESPECIALLY HIS FATHER FOLLOWING YOU!!!

And yessss, I'm trying to get back in the saddle and everytime I write a few sentences of Kevin on his knees wearing the lace collar Sami gave him I have to stop and facepalm and mutter "I'm so sorry, Kevin's father..." BUT I REFUSE TO BE DAUNTED.

I already hinted at their most devastating moments in backstory when introducing them, but here's a revisit!

Rorden's most devastating moments are either his possession and subsequent murder of his uncle, the arrest that followed, or hearing the news of his homeland's fall.

Sian's had a better life than the others. His natural mother died giving birth to Lyrican so he doesn't remember her loss enough to be deeply devastated by it, so his first love abandoning him is his most devastating moment.

Mary's, obviously, was the death of her grandparents. She lost her mother at birth and her father abandoned her to her grandparents' care so she has no other great losses or pains on her record.

I have admit I really like how Sian has a relatively trauma-free life compared to the communal catastrophe of Rorden or the deeply personal catastrophe of Mary's. It makes for a good balance (though of course heartbreak can be really traumatic in its own way!)
