My husband got my computer to work again, so I have no excuse at all for not posting last week except it utterly slipped my mind in a whirl of stuff. But I'm back!
--What do you like least about your current WiPs?
Oooh. Uh. I'm trying my hand at movieverse Clark/Bruce, and I don't like feeling unsure about voice and characterization, since I've only seen the movie once. They're very different from the comics, and I don't want to just write the comics versions into the movie, you know?
I'm writing enemy wrestlers handcuffed together, and while I know one of the fun set pieces is going to be the scene where they have to tag team wrestle while handcuffed to each other, I'm dreading figuring out the logistics of it!
And I'm writing two frenemies hanging out together in another fic, and I've been worried they wouldn't have much chemistry (they haven't interacted much in canon lately so I don't have much to go on) but it's shaking out okay, I think. How about you? What's coming together or falling apart?

Date: 2016-06-17 02:31 am (UTC)Hmm, that's a tough question since my latest book is eating my brain alive and I love it to pieces. I think the thing I like least at this moment is people (and work, darn that work!) interrupting the writing of it.
Other than that, well, it's a SF romance and I worry that I won't get the right balance of SF to Romance. To be a romance the SF has to be pretty much window dressing and I love my SF, especially the world building for this particular world so I'm not sure I'm balancing right. It's a world I've been puttering away at since college so yeah, lots of world that could be included.
Either way, it's going very well when I can get the time I want on it. I'd go write more now but I need to get this week's book (a collection) ready for publishing. *grumble-sigh*
Good luck with your stories!

Date: 2016-06-18 12:19 am (UTC)This is the best worst thing ever. I love it. But yeah, I can also see worrying about the balance of romance to SF--romance is one of those genres that has a lot of pretty specific narrative patterns that have to be followed and really shapes the rest of it. I like that a lot of the time but if you want to do worldbuilding it can be a struggle.
The stories are coming along well, yay! I've set aside an hour to dedicate to one of them today--in an example of having fun switching milieu, I was never able to easily write a "handcuffed together" prompt for Clark and Bruce (the world's strongest man and the world's best escape artist!) Even if I made it magic and unbreakable, because of who they are they always insisted on dealing with it rather than giving up and trying to get by and all the hijinks that come with that. So yay for new tropes! :D
