I failed to get this posted last week due to Things and Reasons! But I will now, and I will even actually ask a question related to writing superheroes:
What's your favorite superpower to write? (let's include things like "has a flying armored suit" and "is an amazing acrobat" in powers, shall we?)
For me it's probably flying, because it's so fun to come with ways to describe it, and it can fit such a variety of moods: energetic, euphoric, etc. It's always good for giving a character a literal unusual perspective as well!
Work picked up this week, so less writing than I would like...but I'm actually writing something set in comic-book continuity, a missing scene, and it's been a while since I've written that so I'm enjoying it! How about you?

Date: 2015-04-17 02:35 pm (UTC)A close second would be characters who can heal from everything, again because of the contrast with normal soft-squishy people.
So you know, Clark and Bruce together always fits both of those. *grin*
I haven't gotten as many words as I would have liked this week because my mother is visiting until Monday but I have written so I count that as a win. I've just about got my last novella ready to publish (should upload it today) and I've started on a new novel that's just banging right along. It's a sequel to Artifacts of Awareness and wow, so much fun to get back to these characters! :D
Good luck with your story! It is nice to get back, isn't it?

Wow, that is definitely an overall win, I think! I'm having nerve problems with my elbow right now and that's really cut into my productivity this week, which is making me sad. I'm trying to pamper it a bit!

Date: 2015-05-13 08:16 pm (UTC)Like, Judah, when he was a little boy, heard his mother reading tales about monsters, identified with their amorality, and immediately self identified as a bad guy. A monster. And proceeded to live up to that. Meanwhile I am sure Dorian heard fairy tales and stuff during his time with his Dad, and here he is walking around looking like a demon with his slitted pupils and his claws, and completely rejects that label. Serathus is in his head bullying him all the time to give into the instincts of the dragon blood, saying that this is what he is and he should succumb to his nature (Serathus is projecting a lot here btw, dragons weren't always inherently terrible as I've mentioned before), and he still doesn't. Dorian looks in the mirror every day, sees a monster...and then glibly puts sunglasses on over those eyes, uses a stylus for his smart phone, and moves on with his life. Because he has to.
...sorry I suddenly had a lot of feelings.
