I don't know about you, but I often kind of get influenced by the books I'm reading and my writing shifts a bit to echo that (if it's a very distinctive style). I had been reading some hard-boiled detective stories (Robert B. Parker's Spenser series, which I love because he evokes 70s-80s New England so clearly) but lately I've switched over to a book of poetry by Mary Oliver, who I love but I can feel the tug toward writing more elliptically and I have to resist it, because it doesn't suit my book, lol!

I hope writing is going well for you! How was the week in writing for you?

I relate to the part of resisting something! I've had to be careful in the past if I get to into a movie/book/tv show that isn't my main fandom/a fandom I write for, especially one set in a different time period/country because I don't want one of them sounding OOC (like when I was reading a lot of RDJ!Sherlock Holmes fic and trying to make sure Oliver Queen didn't suddenly sound like he belonged in Victorian England lol).

I probably get more influenced by other fanfic writers. It does make me nervous when I've read a ship a lot before I start writing it myself, since I don't want to copy them.

Writing is going a little slow but I'm working on it. I hope it's going well for you!

I don't feel that other authors influence me that much with my writing style, but if they do, it's on more of a subconscious level. 📝

My editing of my massive manuscript is going pretty well. 67,000+ words and counting! ☺️
