Open Thread: Oracle Hotline

--Which is your favorite site to post fic?

Well, this opens up an interesting technical question for this week! Right about now, for me this boils down to: do you guys still post fic to LJ or DW? Do you post to AO3 and then post the links to LJ/DW? At the moment I post to LJ, DW, and AO3 separately, then post to the usual comms on LJ, then post a link to the AO3 post on Tumblr. This is rather time-consuming, and I've debated posting only to AO3 and making links to everything else...except that I get some of the most thoughtful, insightful, inspiring comments on LJ/DW still, and I greatly fear that only posting to AO3 would snap that last thread. How do you guys handle your posting right now?

As for writing, I hope all is well there! I have gotten some good work done this week, thank goodness--although most of it not on anything I planned, but on a story that grabbed me unexpectedly. I can't really complain if I'm inspired!

I post my fanfic to AO3 and then link to it on Tumblr, DW & LJ. Granted, that's not often anymore but it works pretty well for me. I gave up on posting it everywhere ages ago, long before I started publishing my own work. It was just too much work. I don't even directly post to LJ anymore. I just post to DW and then let it automatically crosspost over to LJ because I still have a few people who follow me there.

I've done reasonably well on writing this week given that Monday was a part day due to needing to get my eyes checked, and Tuesday and Wednesday were audit days where no writing at all happened. It's a busy few weeks for me which can't be helped.

I did get a short story done, not that I'm sure its any good (need to get someone to beta it for me) and I'm started on a new novella (smut! Yay! It's been a while!) that's just blasting along. It's always nice when the story's super-clear in your head. Good luck on your new story!

I'm the most comfortable reading and posting on Ao3, but I dislike commenting on Ao3, so I for the most part read on Ao3 and then comment on DW (in your case when it's posted in both places) and then don't comment at all on other authors. I will read fic on tumblr but I don't like how easy it is to lose, when on Ao3 it's easy to find fics one remembers. I love that it is truly an archive of our own, I feel like as long as the people whose work I care about post there I will never lose anything ever again.
