Is your current WiP a series or stand-alone?

Probably a stand-alone! I don't think the subjects are likely to pile up another 20 years of history at this point...

Also, which do you prefer to write? I've always preferred stand-alone one-shots, although I've always gotten the most response and engagement with series...

I'm doing both right now. I always like to have at least two projects going, in case I get bogged down with one. ☺️

I don't really have a preference. The stand-alone one-shots are quicker, of course, and can give you a really good boost of adrenaline. ⚡

A series of stories is satisfactory for world-building and delving deeper into the characters. ⛏️

I always really like having one long story and a one-shot going at the same time! Especially if they have very different tones. There's always something you're in the mood for then...

My current WIP is a stand-alone. I could see building on it, in terms of a prequel and a sequel, but I am trying to focus on one thing at a time. I'm like you - I prefer stand-alone one shots too. I think I tend to lose focus and don't have the patience to keep working on multi chapter or multi series stories anymore.

It can be SO HARD to keep tone and plot consistent across a long series! The end result can be very satisfying, but whew...
