My current WIP is a stand-alone. I could see building on it, in terms of a prequel and a sequel, but I am trying to focus on one thing at a time. I'm like you - I prefer stand-alone one shots too. I think I tend to lose focus and don't have the patience to keep working on multi chapter or multi series stories anymore.
