--Would you say your writing has changed over time?

In some ways, yes! I've started to steer clear of the more egregious "sins" of fan writing--avoiding epithets and too many adverbs and italics. Though if I'm going to be honest, I might have had more fun writing before I started steering clear of them! My writing is probably better, though...

Speaking of which, I've gotten some writing done this week for my exchange! I get to write a demon hanging out with his human boyfriend and having cultural misunderstandings, which is always fun, and the writing is going fairly smoothly when I can find the time. I hope writing is treating you well too!

Yes, I definitely say that my writing has changed (and improved) over time. Along with some of what you mentioned, namely stopping using the epithets, I have also tried to work on my characterizations. When I first started writing fanfic, I had seen a lot of Bollywood movies/soap operas and decided I wanted the stoic guys in my canon to just cry, which they did, making them widely OOC. I'm definitely less dramatic these days and that has helped improve the quality of my fics. As you said, there is a certain fun in it before you begin to overthink though.

Aw, I confess I really like your Bollywood-inspired emotional writing as an origin story! I totally understand expanding beyond it, but still. :)

Haha thank you! Actually, the first writing I did were original stories that I imagined were Bollywood movies! Now that I think about it, there was always a pair of male best friends who had a very close relationship and loved each other a lot without saying the words, but back then, I hadn't yet discovered slash. :D

Writing always makes you feel accomplished, doesn't it? ☺️

Hopefully my writing has improved! I think I can set a scene better than ever with the right amount of description, and I hope I can allow readers to fill in some blanks on their own with characters. Sometimes minimalist can be the most effective in telling a story. But not when it comes to food! 🍓🍒😁🍎🍉
