 Are you planning on publishing your most recent WiP? if so, how?

I finished and posted the Mad Max crossover and am back to picking gingerly at a WiP I was horrified to discover I hadn't touched for over a year! It's a heavily-smutty piece based on the characters played by people I've actually met and interacted with so HAHAHAHAHAHAHA NO that is never getting published, to put it mildly. It would be difficult to even file off the serial numbers--I could do it, but it would be a struggle. So fic it remains.

Have you ever filed off the serial numbers and turned a fanfic into something publishable? Obviously in some cases it doesn't even need to be deftly done, as 50 Shades of Gray's former life as a Twilight fanfic proved. Would your current WiP work that way or not?

Well, of course. I always share my stories eventually. The fanfics will probably go up next year for a big bang I enjoy.

The original fic, well, I've had a ton of trouble getting any publishing done since late April, all related to the pandemic finally getting to me. I'm hoping to get back on that wagon soon so that I can get back at it again.

I've thought of filing the serial numbers off a couple of my stories but never have. It'd take more work than just starting something entirely new. I did write a short story that was originally conceived as an Untamed AU fic that I made completely original when I started writing, so that's kind of the opposite.

Ugh, I am so sorry to hear that. "Get to you" like emotionally, or did you get sick? Either one is horrible.

It just seems like so much work! And you're already very experienced at writing original fic--I can kind of see if someone doesn't have a lot of confidence there yet, but you have no excuse. :)

Hopeful about publishing! It's original fic so no filing, but I have some that could be done. Hey, if What's-Her-Name with the sparkling vampires could do it, so can I! :)

Some of your AUs might take well to having the serial numbers filed off! It's a little tough because DC characters especially as SO well-known; it's going to be tough to publish a story about a millionaire crimefighter without being going "Hey, wait..." :)
