I got a bunch of fic writing done last week! Well, a few hundred words--for me lately that's pretty good! I think what made it feel good was that even though it wasn't a lot, I got into the flow of it and it came naturally, not like I was forcing words. It's made me look forward to getting back to the piece instead of fretting about it.

What's on your plate this week? Was writing a pleasure or a pain?

Sounds like you might be getting back into the groove! :)

I'd say writing was a pleasure this week. I finally got an idea on how to bridge some scenes to the final chapter for my original novel. It was tough going for awhile there!

Fanfic-wise, I finished The Alienist/Murdoch Mysteries crossover. Lots of editing to be done, but it's cool to get the first draft done.

Those bridges can be so hard! I know how to write the big set pieces, but then sometimes I find myself sitting there unable to get to it... I'm glad to hear you got some good ideas!

The flow is important and sometimes it can be very elusive. I hope you can stay in the flow. Recently it's been hard for me to get into the right headspace to find that sweet spot where everything just pours out and instead it has been drafting-redrafting-poking and picking apart-rewriting with sudden flow. Or not starting at all until close to a deadline and sudden spontaneous super flow.

Planning has been a pleasure, but there was little time for actual writing.

I've missed that feeling of words transferring smoothly from my mind to the screen so much! It's a very unique pleasure. But yes, it can take a lot of planning and preparation to get there! The planning is fun too, but it's a very different kind of thing.

It is a very unique pleasure indeed! Sometimes it happens unexpectedly when I stop planning and instead just write something randomly and that's also very cool.

Planning is its own kind of fun, but it still leaves me with all the things that still need to somehow be put into the actual words... ;D But then the best scenes are the ones that are two words in the outline and then surprise you by becoming their own chapter.
