--If you only could write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?
So many people here are writing mostly original fic now that the question doesn't make much sense. :P But apply it to fanfiction, I suppose? For me it would be Clark and Bruce, simple choice because they're actually about 12 pairings rolled into one--I can switch from animated series to movies to comics and get a fresh perspective anytime, and there's always more coming out. Plus the double (or even triple) identities give a lot of freedom to write them differently as well.
Writing has been sporadic but not bad. I'm having a lot of great conversations with my beta who's helping me get unstuck at various points in my Yuletide story. I love having a person I can show something to and say "The story went kind of flat and lifeless right around here, where do you think I went wrong?" and he'll think about it for a while and then tell me what seems to be missing or off about it. It's a great cure for writer's block, which usually stems from having taken a wrong turn about 300 words ago for me...
How about you? Are you stuck or moving forward? My sticking-point was having a character acquiesce too quickly and readily to something because I was anxious to get to the aftermath dialogue, but because he gave in too quickly the next conversation lost all of its snap and emotional resonance. Back I go to slow things down a bit... (this story is heading for 12,000 words, nooooo).

Date: 2014-11-28 06:47 pm (UTC)I'm not sure I could choose one 'verse over the other, much less one pairing. But if I were really, really stuck between a rock and hard place I think I'd go with my Matriarchies of Muirin verse. That's got the most wide-open future of them all. Though Tindiere is close. And then Tormal is right on it's heels with Mouse and Snake right after that. And... *dies*
Pairing, god, I can't choose. I really can't. Even if I tried to restrict it to just fanfic, even though I'm not writing fanfic that much anymore, I couldn't choose. I love them all too much. But yeah, superhero pairings are awesome for the many-people-in-one thing, aren't they? XD
Writing has gone super-well for me! I've kept up on my goal of writing 4000 words every weekday and I even got some weekend writing. And then my hubby is in Japan on a trip for Thanksgiving so I've had all week to go even higher. Yesterday I got 6800 words and I'm hopeful of doing the same today and tomorrow. Honestly, my goal for November was 41K words and I'm at 83,770 so far this month with another three days to go. :D
It's kind of fun how much I'm getting done now that I raised the bar for myself. So far this month I've finished one novel, written a novella, and now I've started (and should get at least halfway through) a second novel. Productivity is awesome! Of course, we'll see how it goes over December and beyond. *grin*
Good luck on slowing things down in the scene! I tend to do that too. In the current novel (it's a sweet little romance with nothing more than kissing) I just had the main characters who will pair up swear together that they wouldn't succumb to the matchmaking pressure going on around them. So of course it's time for them to realize 'oh crap, I shouldn't have done that I kinda seriously really like that person'. Should be a blast to write.
(And yesssssss on the 12,000 word story! 8D)

Date: 2014-12-02 02:08 am (UTC)That makes sense as an original-writing version of it--but is just as impossible to answer, isn't it? :)

*grin* My husband has to be away all weekend in Tokyo, and I'll miss him--but part of me is like ALL THE WRITING TIME WHOO.
Also, more than double your goal is...well, that's a bit all right, it is. Wow.
I'm really counting on my beta to go through and say "Wait, wait, you definitely skipped something here, it needs more fleshing out." It helps that he is really good at capturing the voices of the characters and can spiel out possible dialogues on the spur of the moment (and let me steal them!)

Date: 2014-11-28 09:10 pm (UTC)If I had to choose a fan fiction pairing to be condemned to forever, I actually think I would choose one I haven't tried yet but have dearly wanted to: Jeeves/Wooster.
Writing went well early in the week, I have challenged myself for the holidays and am looking forward to it. But I have been slowed down by Thanksgiving and then working on this, the blackest of Fridays. Hoping to write more this weekend.

Date: 2014-12-02 02:11 am (UTC)Dorian and Sander have one of the most dynamic and interesting relationship arcs out there, so I think it's a really good choice as well--there's just SO MUCH you can explore between them.
I'm...almost sorry I've sworn to support your original fic and not try to tempt you into fanfic, because I would LOVE to see some Jeeves/Wooster from you. Maybe you can put that on a future birthday list? *grin*
Hope the weekend writing went well! I should have a lot of free time this weekend for a change, and I intend to make the most of it! *crosses fingers*
