--What comes first, the plot or characters?

Well, this is easy for a fanfic writer! The characters are mostly handed to us and we get to make the plots around them, after all. The best part of fic, as far as I'm concerned.

I had an actually deadline to meet this week and I had to rush but I did make it! It was for a wrestling magazine, an essay on the retirement of a legendary wrestler. The editor assigned to proof it said it made her cry, so I think my work here is done! I hope your characters and your plots are coming along well this week and always...

Always the characters! Pro or fanfic, the characters come first. Sometimes it's the world that bites me but I can't create a story without the characters.

I'm off at a writer's workshop which starts tomorrow. I was really looking forward to it but I caught a cold earlier this week so now I'm grumpy and worried about making everyone else sick. Still writing, of course, just much more slowly.

Congrats on making your editor cry! That takes real chops. Good luck with your writing, too!

Oh, haha... The characters for me usually. Also in a non fic context.

Some deadlines are coming up but actual work project deadlines have all my concentration, so fic Exchange will have to wait until I get a breather this weekend. ^^;

Well, I'll have to agree with all of you: characters come first. Aren't stories in which the plots are derived from the characters the best of all? :)

I'm a little excited as my second original novel is really clicking along, and I finally got an idea to write in the Evil fandom! So all is well right now writing-wise. :)

And BIG CONGRATS on your essay! *dances*
