--Do you balance fic writing with original concept stuff?

I find that a hard balance, I think! I used to not write ANYTHING original, then for a while balanced fic and original nonfiction, but recently the nonfiction has kind of taken over. Maybe the balance is tougher between nonfiction and fiction rather than transformative versus original? Because I've never written original fiction, so I can't speak to that.

Are any of you plunging into NaNoWriMo or Yuletide? If so, I wish you the very best!

*laughs* There's a balance? Seriously, for me it was more like flipping a switch though I totally blame DC for that. They messed with canon so much that I just took my toys and went home to play with my own characters. Though I am working on a secret big bang right now that's fanfic...

You know, between finishing the last of my 6 challenge novels and publishing things and general life. At least I have most of a year to get the fanfic done.

I'm not officially doing NaNo because I write like that everyday but I am working on getting my current novel done before 11/21 when I go on vacation to Japan. We're going to Sendai and Tokyo so I want this book done before we leave. I'm hoping to make it. :D

I think I've struck a good balance. While I'm working more often on original fic, I still have fanfic ideas popping up. Fanfic relaxes me whereas original fic is intended for publication, so that's a little more stressful. :)

I don't really balance it. My main has always been fic and original fiction I write more for myself when I get hit by a bug. (Which is probably the opposite for original fiction writers usually?)

Yuletide and the cap_ironman Holiday Exchange and finishing my Big Bangs...
