--Is writing your passion or just a fun hobby?

I...don't actually know how to answer this one? Can't a fun hobby also be a passion? I know a lot of people who are incredibly passionate about things that are "just" hobbies... I mean, I suppose the question is asking, in an abbreviated form, if writing is something you could put down and walk away from and pick up a different hobby. In that case it's probably more of a passion for me? I've thought about picking up other things to do in my spare time that are easier to talk about with my students or on Facebook, and I always end up deciding they cut too much into my writing time, sooooo... :)

Speaking of which, writing has been fairly good? I'm distracted by some Yuletide letters/prompts I've seen but keeping that at the planning stages rather than the writing stages right now. Planning to settle in and write for a few hours this afternoon once I finish class prep! How about you?

My passion, for as long as I can remember - all that's changed is what I write, it was poetry when I began. The thing about passion though is that it is inconstant. It burns out and reignites. I almost envy people with the 'fun hobby' relationship with writing, it seems like it would be easier to live with.

Running cold this week, but life is happening. Also we have hard rickety dining chairs in front of the new computer, we've not had the opportunity to buy computer chairs. With computer games or browsing I get up every few minutes; it would break my concentration to do that while writing, so its been short things or nothing.

Mmm, yes, I can see how that would be a problem! When I'm writing I hate to break up my concentration, but I wouldn't want to risk actually harming my body in the process. :)

Passion is a rare gift! As long as it eventually comes, it's fine if it goes for a bit... :)

Definitely a passion and one that I'm working on turning into a job. Not full time for a good bit yet but definitely a job... someday. *grin* But that's me. I can totally understand just wanting it to be a hobby.

Writing has been absolutely dead-stop but that's because I'm off at my writer's conference (on a break right now! :D) and wow, learning so much. Just... so much! It's really kind of amazing and I'm glad I type fast enough to effectively transcribe what people say. Otherwise I know I'd forget things once I leave.

And now I gotta get back to the workshop--good luck with the writing / planning fun!

Whooo! I always feel like I'll SURELY remember everything, and then of course I don't. :) Glad to hear it's going great and your passion is bright!
