--In your current WiP, who is your protagonist’s best friend?

I'm allowed to have best friends who are also lovers, right? ^-^ In that case, Kevin is Sami's best friend, though whether that's a wise choice or not is definitely an open question.

I hope your writing is going well! I really wanted to sign up for Yuletide, but it's impossible, I'd just turn in something mediocre at this point, my life is just too crazy. It's sad but that seems to be the status quo from now on. Share woes or give me some information that might cheer me up by letting me know other people are doing better in comments!

Hmm, for Anwyn, her best friend is Iola who Anwyn would totally happily marry if Iola wasn't a) more or less straight and b) more or less asexual.

For Raelin, the other POV character in my current novel, well, she doesn't really have a best friend. She could be friends with Sinead but Sinead had to flee Aingeal City to the other side of the world. She could be friends with some of her shipmates except rank gets in the way (Raelin outranks even the captain of the ship). And given all the politics going on in the story, Rae just doesn't have time to develop those friendships.

Though, wow, this book is giving me so many ideas for future stories I want to write where she does get all the things she's missing. Where both Anwyn and Raelin get what they need. :D

Heh, I posted over on Pillowfort and Tumblr to remind myself that my sales doldrums have a real cause that doesn't mean I'm a terrible, horrible, no-good, bad writer. See, there's a thing about contested election years. If it's a really charged election, people don't buy books until the election is over. They're too stressed and have no bandwidth for it.

So, my horrible, no-good, really bad sales (under $20 this month) can and very likely do tie back into the election. Hopefully things will improve once the election is over.

So that's both woes and good news, I guess. Outright good news? Um. Well, I've lost over 15 lbs since May. That's enough that my pants need a belt or they'll fall right off.

Heh, I posted over on Pillowfort and Tumblr to remind myself that my sales doldrums have a real cause that doesn't mean I'm a terrible, horrible, no-good, bad writer. See, there's a thing about contested election years. If it's a really charged election, people don't buy books until the election is over. They're too stressed and have no bandwidth for it.

Good Lord, really? That's fascinating and a bit depressing. I wish you all the luck in the world getting through 2020...

Ha, that's how I always work it. The lover-as-best-friend is often the case with me. Right now that's Clark, as the story is from Lex's POV.

IT IS THIS TIME NEXT YEAR AND IT IS NOT DIFFERENT, lol. Though there have been bursts of productivity there and there in the meantime!

The most recent fic I was working on had a best-friend-and -lover narrative going for it, until I failed to finish it for a bang, and I haven't touched it since (whomp whomp :/)

What even is my most recent WIP... I just finished some femslash fics, and it's funny how I've never written femslash before haha. That was an experience and I realize how much easier it is for me to write m/m stories. xD

I'll just... pluck SaitouxSanosuke out of my WIP pile this week! Sanosuke's best friend is Kenshin, and he's really a tricky character for me to write. He seems like such a blank slate and he's quiet. It's really hard to peg down his personality sometimes. So, I'm still working on figuring out Kenshin's character for writing!

I am still finishing and posting things this year! I just wish that sometimes, I was into more popular fandoms, but alas~ I love my little tin cans floating out in the middle of the big big ocean. And I really enjoy what I have been writing, so that's just the sacrifice I have to make. I've never been into most fandoms when they were hella popular, anyway. xD
