Open Thread: Oracle Hotline

Hi everyone! The last two weeks fell into a hole due to a kidney stone attack with my husband--emergency rooms, CAT scans, the works. He's okay now but dealing with it in a foreign country was... well, a lot cheaper than in the US, without a doubt, so I'm not complaining, but it was scary!

This is a very different question for a professional versus an amateur writer! I try to get 30 minutes to a half hour in every day no matter what, though lately that's been difficult. That's not a lot of headway, but I'm dedicating the next few weeks to writing some exchange fic, something I haven't been doing as often as I'd like! I hope things are going well for you!

Glad to hear that the hubby is doing well. :)

I've written very little this week due to RL chaos, but generally I go with your goal: if I write a half hour a day I figure I'm doing well. Or if I write a decent amount of words I'm happy.

If things calm down around here this weekend,I plan on working on my pro novel as the first round of edits are close to completion, and maybe spruce up some fanfic for posting.

Aaah... This is something that changes a lot for me! I try to write at least 500 words daily on non-NaNo months, and then 1k a day in April/July Camp NaNo, and then the 1667 words daily for November NaNo. How long that takes me can vary greatly. XD Last night I was able to write 1k in 15 minutes. (It's not great writing, but it is writing!) And then other days, I can struggle to put even a few sentences together.

I'm usually not that consistent in how much I write daily. Some days I can write 10k, others I can barely write 10 words, so I focus more on reaching a monthly total. I can feel like I accomplished something if I set a longer term goal, rather than daily. Life gets in the way too much for daily goals!

I'm glad your husband is doing okay! It's a scary situation no matter the country, but at least you don't have the massive medical bills on top of it.

Oh no! I'm glad he's okay now!

I do try and write for an hour a day at least, depending on what else is happenng. Write Every Day really helped me get a routine.

Losing the routine and then trying to get back into it is always the hardest. *cheers on*
