If your most recent POV character had to live in seclusion for six months, what six items would s/he bring?

Um. Kevin wouldn't deal very well with seclusion, that's for sure. He would probably bring a laptop (I assume no Internet) stuffed with files of his favorite wrestling matches. I suspect a Bible. Maybe one of Sami's hats, to prop on something and argue with. A favorite Guns and Roses shirt. If he could steal a wrestling title to have with him, or take one of his own if he happened to have it at the time, he'd do that. Possibly a childhood teddy bear, since he knows he's going to have a rough time coping.

Huh, given that Chea, my newest character for my newest short story, could very well be trapped on an experimental spaceship going on an uncontrolled trip to another solar system with two dead bodies, I think she'd take friends. And more food. Plus weapons to defend herself.

None of which she has, poor thing. It's a ticking clock story and I'm having a blast with it. Hopefully I'll have that done tomorrow.

I think Chea would have a really hard time with being alone, too, though not for the same reasons.

Hope your writing week went well--I realized during the writing workshop last week that I needed to make some changes to the books I've got preordered (as well as every single other thing I have out) so that I had a better author bio and requests to follow my newsletter, social media and such. I'm almost done fixing those but man, I'm letting myself write more this week. I missed getting lots of words while I was fixing things. I was getting grumpy for the lack of it and now feel better.

Am I really closing in on three months late in responding to things? Yes I am! This holiday season was brutal. I might have appreciated some time of total seclusion! Did the clock tick out for Chea? I hope not!

And writing up all the little picky things like author bios and stuff is necessary, but so frustrating at times! I'd so much rather be writing...

Ha, I'm writing Tony in seclusion right now, but he won't manage to stay put for more than two days. ^^;

He would bring tools and something to work on. He'll probably build armors from palm trees if he has to.

I'm really behind with my writing currently and need o up my wordcount, but it's been so hard to find the right balance between free time and actual writing motivation.

Two days of seclusion for Tony sounds--heavenly or hellish, depending on where he is in his life right now! He'd get a lot of work done, though, that's for sure... (I would not mind being on an island somewhere for a little while as long as I could access the Internet! Though then there would just be Skype meetings and... no, it would never work).

Dick would take a box of books. People always talk about Tim being the intellectual one but forget that Dick made high grades while studying to be Robin once upon a time.

Favorite cereals. Dick loves cereal, and he'll have plenty of fruit waiting for him on the island. Yes, he's going to a desert island.

A fishing pole, because man cannot live on cereal alone! ;)

A small duffle bag with a few clothes, because he dosen't plan to wear clothes very often. ;)

Aaah... I feel like I don't know Clark well enough anymore to know how to answer that! My wife says he would probably take photographs with him, and I have to agree with her! For me, Clark is very sentimental and might very much need reminders of his humanity if he were to go into seclusion.

So far my writing for NaNo is going well! I'm slowly getting back into SuperBat and getting my fic done, then it's on to Thorki. (And the Ragnarok movie really helped me to get motivated to bust that BigBang story out too! Ahaha. Down to the wire... But as my dad always says: It's not fun unless you make you hard! He's a good procrastinator too.)

Oh, I know that feeling all too well... :( But I agree with you 100% about the pictures, and I feel a lot of his other choices would probably be things along that theme--like books and music that remind him of his humanity.

I hope your Big Bangs went smoothly and well!

Rorden *has* done this. He brings his weapons, Tover, a utility dagger, good sturdy leathers, materials to construct a temporary shelter, and a waterskin. He can refill the skin and catch his own food if necessary.

Sian is imagining a living in seclusion that is more civilized so assuming he couldn't take a companion at all (he'd bring Kemaer or a lover in general if he had the choice)...books, books, more books, a six month supply of good wine and glasses to drink it out of, and writing materials.

Mary's response to this question is to blink blankly and curl up whimpering. She's a very social creature, surviving the journey from the Yonderlands to Forja friendless nearly killed her inside. She wouldn't survive six months.
