Describe your most recent POV character’s father.
Oh, I was SO CLOSE to being able to write about a DC character, but then last night I wrote just a little more of Kevin, so he wins out this week.
Hm, considering the last DC character I wrote was the Amazon Antiope, and as far as I know there's nothing at all about her father in canon, maybe that's for the best?
Kevin has a great relationship with his father, who is an absolute sweetheart and has supported his son all his life (and who follows me on Twitter, augh). One of my favorite moments on Kevin's DVD is his father choking up with emotion while he talks about how proud he is of his son. How Kevin turned out so evil with such a fantastic role model is a great mystery of wrestling. :)

Date: 2017-09-30 03:10 am (UTC)Well, either father you look at for Loki, it ain't good. Laufey abandoned Loki to die, and then Odin... I really do think Odin tried his best to shield Loki but... I dunno. The shit hit the fan and he just. Kind of washed his hands of Loki a bit. Loki of course played his own hand in all of this, and perhaps (going from the Movieverse here) had Odin not fallen into the Odin-Sleep at that precise time, things could have been talked over. A Loki left to his simmering thoughts is a very volatile Loki indeed. I think it was all too much going on, with losing Thor, finding out he was Jotunn, and Frigga having him become regent and it all just... fractured his psyche a bit. Perhaps if Frigga had retained regent status and not put the pressure on Loki, he wouldn't have tried to destroy Jotunheimr, as, presumably, most Aesir were not going to willingly follow Loki to begin with, ESPECIALLY since he was Jotunn. He wanted to cleanse that part of him, the 'taint' of Jotunn by eliminating all other Jotunn and 'erasing' them all and therefore, the Jotunn in him.
Hah~ That moved away from Loki's fathers to Loki. XD In short: Loki has not had good or strong male role models. lol
I'm motivated (at least a tiny bit!) to write Thorki, so yay! Progress!!! Still super behind, but hey, it could be worse. Writing has been super not forthcoming this week, but I'm starting to ease into it a bit, at least. Got some more work done on my kimono panel too! But man. What a huge topic to try to cover in 2 hours...

Date: 2017-10-05 10:28 am (UTC)For Noir!Tony his father is a big deal, of course. He fought in World War I and came home, weakened and seemingly going crazy and then died when Tony was still a little boy. Jarvis, one of his British army buddies, became somewhat of a mentor/father figure to Tony. And at the end of the mini-series it is revealed that it was all a ploy by Hydra who injected Howard with the Zemo-Formula and turned him into their deranged chief scientist and now they want Tony to be the next. So my Noir fics all come back to Howard a lot. In a four part mini-series you only get so much of a back story, but it feels like this is one of the verses where Tony was too small to develop the complicated relationship he has with Howard in other verses and his being alive must come as quite the shock.

Date: 2017-10-14 11:40 am (UTC)OK THAT'S A PRETTY COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP. :O Wow, that's fraught!
I'm really curious about Wonder Woman's movie-Zeus! Generally speaking I do not attribute Zeus with a whole lot of warm paternal feelings towards humans (didn't the original condemn Prometheus to eternal torment because he gave humanity fire?) so I'm dubious about the movie's take on him, although of course within the context of the movie it's correct!

Date: 2017-12-07 04:36 pm (UTC)Sian's father, Eldyn Fairshadow, has taken on several different incarnations in my RP history. He's usually a scholar or historian, him being an innkeeper in this world was the result of him, Sian and Lyr originally being a cameo like 3 campaigns back. Eldyn is a kind and loving father who loved their mother deeply, was devastated by her loss, and after her death was totally married to his work. Sylgi wormed her way into his heart/life/bed by being so adjacent to his work that it just made sense to marry her. His sons are everything to him.
Mary's father was, like Rorden's, and asshole, and that's the most she knows about him. She grew up knowing even less until she asked her grandparents when she was a teenager, they kept his identity a secret from her.
