How goes with everyone as the year draws to a close? Next week I'll find one of those end-of-the-year memes and discuss it here, perhaps! I've been writing short vignettes this week and enjoying it a lot. though I'm not sure which if any I will post--I've been trying to practice expanding my range of characters, but it always seems like the vignettes I like best and which resonate most are with the same rather small circle of characters. I guess that's natural, but it's a bit frustrating as well! How are things with you?

I'm actually pretty happy with the writing this year. I'm 200K higher than my goal for the year so yeah, pretty happy. Not quite to my goal for this month yet but I'm maybe two days of writing away from that.

The Japanese gay romance is up to 53K and looks to end up somewhere around 65K. Jiro, my hero, has his inheritance and has begun full (stubling aromantic) pursuit of Garret, his love interest. Who's not really fighting it. He's just uncertain right now.

Not sure what he's so reluctant about. I'm thinking it's past lovers and breakups plus worries about how people at work will receive the romance but hey, I'm writing a low homophobia world so it's probably the past breakups. We'll see as I write the next couple of chapters.

I'd love to finish the book before the end of the year but as the hubby and I are going on a 4-day vacation to Oregon the day after Christmas I'm not sure I will. Gonna try, anyway. It'd be fun to start the new year with a new book. :D

Good luck on stretching your range of characters! That's always a challenge. Sometimes I really do feel like I write the same characters over and over with different names but no one really complains about it so I try to not beat myself up about it.

I hope your trip to Oregon went great! As you can see, I am wayyy behind and just starting to struggle to catch up. I'm kind of getting some enforced rest this break due to slight medical problems, so I'm hoping to at least get a little more caught up on things during it!

The Japanese novel sounds wonderful and like it's coming along nice and fast, that's great! I bet you're a lot further along now, too. I hope it's continued to come along well and you've figured out what Garret's uncertain about! He'll let you know in due time, I'm sure of it.
