I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate it! November is over and 2016 is nearly over!

This week I'm asking about favorite tropes, mostly because I felt like taking this trope sorter test again and seeing what I came up with. Listing only my top ten yields a fairly predictable set:

What are your results if you feel like it, and what are you working on this week? I don't have anything ready to post (alas!) because Yuletide took up a lot of my energy (I do have four Yuletide stories written, so I feel good about that!). And things are going slowly on the writing front in general but I'm confident I'll find some time soon to work on my alien sex party fic, muahaha.

OK, so I have to share this with you: because it included so many of my favorite tropes which I couldn't decide between...I don't have a top 10. I have 10 that were ALL sorted as number 1, and then an 11, a 12, two 13...and then the rest were all 'wow you clearly dislike these tropes'.

My top in the order -I- would personally rank them, since it spat the 10 number ones out in a seemingly random order:

1. Loyalty Kink (I interpreted this in choosing it as something I describe as 'fealty kink', but sure, relationship loyalty is nice too. What I had in mind though was stuff like knight/king relationships. unf. my jam, right there)
2. Royalty/Arranged Marriage (I romanticize the upper classes, what can I say, I'm a bad socialist :p)
3. Enemies to Friends to Lovers
4. Rivalmancy
5. Fake Dating/Fake Marriage Accidentally Turns Into Feelings
6. Seemingly Unrequited Pining
7. Trapped in an Elevator/Snowed-In Cabin/etc.
8. Found Families
9. Magical Connection (empathy etc.)
10. Friends to lovers

my 11. was Sex Pollen, my 12. was Groundhog Day Loops (which only ranked so high because of the good ones I've read by you, actually), and my two 13s were A/B/O (don't judge me) and Soulmate Identifying stuff.

Working on this week: brainstorming re-writes. Both to accomodate new character canon and a revision of the world at large. Debating whether to just dive in and start rewriting old pieces just to get -some- legwork in or to go at it with more of an outline/plan this time.

THAT'S AWESOME. And yeah, I translate loyalty kink as fealty kink mostly too, though I think it could become some level of self-sacrificing loyalty as well (like in wrestling a tag partner throwing themselves in front of an attack).

Pretty much all of my top favorite tropes have the theme of "being forced into a romantic/sexual situation"--add in the "seemingly unrequited pining" and that's basically the heart of my fanfic writing. :D

I wish I could say that the writing has been going great but it hasn't. I didn't manage to figure out how to make the travelogue thing work but I did start writing a gay romance novel with lots and lots of setting stuff from the trip to Japan so that's good. If only I wasn't brain dead from jet lag and a huge audit today.

I think my best thing is that I managed to write every day even while on vacation in Japan, even on the day with the 7.4 earthquake that woke us up at 6:00 am. Let me just say that a big earthquake on the 21st floor of a hotel is a wild, wild ride. *big grin*

It's a shame when a list like that misses your faves! (What are they, I ask, coming in a solid five days late to ask). I really need real life to chill the hell out for a little bit, but that seems unlikely to happen...

I have experienced a big earthquake from a high story, so I know exactly what you mean! *shivers* I'm glad you came out okay and that you had a good trip--AND wrote every day, which is pretty amazing!
