--What are some of your favorite words, and why?
Oh, um...I love twilight and dusk, both because they're lovely words and I also love that time of day. I used to use eldritch so much when writing that people told me they could recognize anonymous stories as by me because of it, so I've backed off it a lot. :P Cacophony. Sussurus. Cerulean. There are so many...
Suffering some middle-story lag this week, the price of writing two long stories at once. Had some fraught discussion with my beta about the need to kick the action up a bit and move forward--I'm a bit reluctant to, simply because I'm enjoying the worlds and don't want to move ahead and finish. But it's got to end or it's not complete, and things have to move forward or they can't end... How about you, what's catching your attention this week?

No writing really this week but that's because I'm off on vacation with the hubby. It's an enforced rest and relaxation vacation so there's little time on the computer. Even posting this was stealing time. ;)
But I've started my next book (having just published the last one I wrote) and I'm looking forward to getting to work on it.
BTW, did you ever get the story? I wasn't sure I had the right email address. If not, send me an email at me_ya_ri@yahoo.com and I'll reply back to you with it. :D

I love when words all line up and it's clear that these are all the correct words for the line!

"Enforced rest and relaxation" sounds like it might hit the spot right now! And your email did reach me with the story! I'm hoping to get to read it before the weekend ends, if I can convince "real" life to cut me some slack... :)

btw eldritch is a great word, you should have no shame in using it :3
Just dumped the whole text into a word counter to see what I use most, and all I took away from the experience was a hit to the self esteem regarding my ability to vary my vocabulary :P
I'm not particularly good at kicking up the action myself, so I feel your pain - that, or I skip ahead to the 'good parts' and leave the getting there behind.
Been mostly brainstorming lately. What's catching my attention is what always does - silly interpersonal banter between characters. If I could make a story out of nothing but banter and the occasional smut I would.

Mmm, BUT I think it's better to use what comes naturally than to risk sounding like you're writing with a thesaurus at hand, you know? There's a definite advantage to using an accessible set of language...
I say call your first novel "Banter + Smut"! It will be a bestseller. :) Seriously, iT's such a joy to read...
