mithen: (Batman Loves You)

On the fic front, I thought it might be hard to write Batman caught in a time loop, and it kind of is, but only because you have adjust your expectations! I just wrote a time loop story in a different (much more mundane) fandom, and it took the lead character something like three days to even understand what was happening at all and maybe 20 years or so to get things right. Whereas in fifteen minutes Batman's gotten to "Huh, looks like a temporal anomaly. Good thing the Justice League has a set of protocols--which I wrote--for dealing with such things" and will probably get things sorted out in four or five repetitions.

I love you, Bruce Wayne.

How about you guys, what's new and happening in your writing? I picked up a new gift exchange but haven't started it yet, but refuse to get fretty about it! REFUSE. *frets a bit*

That's the problem I ran into with trying to plot a time loop story, which is why I ended up frankly forgetting about it within a day or two. The character involved is simply too knowledgeable and has too many other resources, I can't imagine it hampering him much. I remember I had some notions about how to address that...then I went back to work and forgot it all.

I'm on the right track this week at least!

Hee! That's one of my favorite things about Bruce, too. You have to take his memory away from him or something to make it really work. Or make it a loop in a loop in a loop which might get ridiculous soon.

My writing is actually going well. I caught a cold on the first but it went away pretty quickly so I managed to finish the romance novel I was working on. I'm super happy with it and looking forward to getting it released soonish. Then I decided to work on short stories for a little bit and got one done.

And then yesterday started a new one where the POV character boomed onto the page like a nuclear explosion. It's now at 6500 words and I'm pretty sure I need somewhere between 15K-50K to finish the story. I mean, I'm having fun and building a whole new world but damn! It's a mystery set in a steampunk world I've only partially developed and I have no idea what I'm doing. It's fun but kind of scary having zero idea of what's going to happen next.

All I know is that it's not done yet. *throws up hands in dismay* We'll see what happens when I work on it tomorrow.

Good luck on your gift exchange! *shoos away all fretting and passes chocolate instead*
