Oct. 16th, 2015 09:03 amIn an embarrassment of riches this week, I was thinking about the fact that I've never written a Groundhog Day time-loop fic before, despite loving the idea, and within a few hours had compelling ideas for two different time loop fics, each with a different enough dynamic that they wouldn't be copies of each other at all. (Side note: wow, time loop fics take a lot more meticulous planning than I had realized. *shoves aside complex timelines*) So that's great news for me! Has anyone ever written one of those? Or time travel in general? I love the idea but usually find the physics of it almost impossible to pull off. How is your week in writing going in general?

Date: 2015-10-16 02:01 am (UTC)This week has been better on the writing though not as good as I would like. I'm going to be gone to a seminar from Saturday 10/17 through Sunday 10/25 so I've been scrambling to make sure everything is ready ahead of time. That eats up way too much time.
Still, adding the third POV to my novel is going well. He's fitting in perfectly, just like he should always have been there. Which, yeah, means that he should have always been there. I only had to lose about 2000 words of previously written story out of what's now around 47K. I'd hoped to have the novel done before my seminar but that's just not going to happen. *sighs* Can't be helped. It's way stronger with Sora than without.
Not sure I'll get any writing at all done next week but I'm going to try. At least I have this week and next week's stories ready for publication. It's just a matter of putting them up. And then the week after is when my preorder is finally released so that week's taken care of too. Even if the preorder has only gotten a couple of takers.
Have a great week! :D

Yeah...but isn't that a good feeling? Do you ever feel a sort of panicked "I almost didn't find you, Character/Plot Point! And you were meant to be here!" I've run into that now and then...
I ought to be working on one fic and I'm going to work on another, I know it. *sighs* But I gotta follow my heart...

Date: 2015-10-17 02:27 am (UTC)Such a good feeling! I normally write into the dark so it happens to me a lot but most of the time it's more '...Oh! That's what that bit back there was about. Better go flesh that out here and here and oooh, now I know how to handle that over there! :D' Almost as much fun.
Follow your heart. It makes for more fun writing and better stories IMO. :D

Date: 2015-10-21 12:40 am (UTC)I'm just grateful I managed something this week, with everything else that's been going on. And it was nice to flesh out a character who I haven't touched much yet.

Date: 2015-10-21 04:11 am (UTC)I'm still struggling a bit with the Clark and Bruce one, although there are extra considerations that make things easier in some ways (like I know who's behind it, which I don't think we ever find out in the wrestling version--no need to, really). It's both easier and harder having an uber-competent guy like Bruce looping... I think I've calculated it would take Bruce about five days to get it right, whereas Kevin...Kevin is probably more on a scale of years (he's learned a fair amount of Mandarin, Bulgarian, and Arabic by the end, just as a quick measure).
