This is such a great question, especially for those of us writing romances! Though sadly I'm not sure my characters are even quite to the point of having conversations they need to have, lol. Based on where the canon has left them at, they have to sit down and have a chat about Clark's history and what he sees as his place in this world. There's a moment where he says maybe it's his destiny to take the dangerous Kryptonite into space (and, it's implied, die in the darkness of space) and I think Bruce would very much like to talk to him about this assumption he has that he doesn't belong in this world. They've touched on it, but of course canon doesn't have any time for in-depth conversations, so... it's up to the ficcers!
I already have some guesses about your answers, and I'd love to hear them! What are your characters dancing around and refusing to talk about?

Naturally, Bruce and Dick need to talk in The Raven And The Nightingale Book IV: The Phantom Of The Ballet (Edwardian AU), though it's Dick who's more reluctant. He needs his space, but that doesn't mean he ignores Bruce completely, as is evident in the story. Their relationship is slightly awkward but not impossible. And will they work it out? We'll find out by the end of Book IV. ☺️

Oh wow, yeah that is definitely some tough conversations that need to be had, especially with regard to Clark's mental health.

For my story, Chris and Eddie not talking about the main issue that sent Christopher to Texas in the first place and that is him seeing his father with the doppleganger of his mom. Eddie is really treating Christopher like he wanted to be treated at his age by giving him space, but Chris is a teenager and more importantly, he isn't Eddie and Eddie isn't his own father. So Chris is understandably sad, angry, frustrated and being standoffish (and his grandparents aren't helping build any bridges) and Eddie is using his son as a way to punish himself. And of course the Hanahaki that he thinks he has because of his best friend really escalated the situation and made it more time sensitive. He doesn't want to scare or worry Christopher further, as he feels he's seen too much already, but that just makes things worse.
