Well, being an alien is pretty weird! In this iteration Superman also (I think, based on clues from the text) was raised at least in part by by Native Americans, who saw his rocket as an "egg of the Thunderbird." I love the idea of tying the First Nations Thunderbird to the Kryptonian Flamebird, so I'm running from there. Not "weird" exactly, but interesting! What weird facts are you working into your main character's life and personality this time around?

Adam claims to see his dead partner Frank. Everyone dismisses it because he's in a mental hospital, but is he being delusional? I deliberately don't say one way or the other. I like ambiguity. 🙂
There's also a scene in which Adam goes up the stairs to the attic. The patients believe padded rooms are up there with patients in straitjackets. But is that just a rumor? The door to the attic is kept locked (Adam picks the lock) and Adam has never seen anyone coming or going.
Ocean View Hospital definitely has its share of weirdness!

I love open-ended stories like that! Since my mother passed, my sister and I have been reading a short story every week with my father, and I'm struck at how much he really loathes ambiguous endings. If the story doesn't end with the bad guys punished and the good guys triumphant, he gets very frustrated. But I really like a story that ends with a feeling that there might just be things you'll never know!
