Share a line/excerpt from your current wip!

I don't usually ask this because I know that sharing can be awkward, but I would love to see a few lines from what you're working on! I think this is my favorite line from the chapter I just finished:

One of the things that made Steen and Generico versus the Briscoes so magical was that they created the unshakable impression that they really, truly hated each other and wished each other dead--not for any ginned-up reason, but just by instinct, like a pair of mongooses meeting two cobras. It was on-sight and to-the-death every single time they crossed paths.

The room smelled faintly of baby sweat, overlaid with a whiff of baby powder. So, the kid had been here. The question was, where had the kidnappers taken him next?

Oooooh, nice! I like the use of smell to create tension here, those nice scents combined with the danger in one sentence.
