How many drafts of your current WiP do you have?
With Google Docs I think it's hard to keep track of draft numbers, everything is very fluid. Though I think by any measure I'm on my first draft, really. Once I'm done (and have re-written the first chapter) I'll hand it over for a serious editing process, I hope! How about you, how often do you re-write and make drafts?

No, seriously, I do edit. My first draft usually stays mostly intact, with a few additions/subtractions, but sometimes there's a major change. I might change the order of chapters, or add a major scene.
Whatever the case, I'd say two or three drafts is my norm. I don't post unless it's been edited. I am not one of those people who post saying 'This is unedited'. As a reader, I'd skip that story!

I had to go back and re-write a scene completely last week and it was very painful, but I did like the final results quite a bit. Something lost but something gained...

Oh, that seems like a really good example of editing and shifting things around--like you, I tend to start at the chronological beginning, but flashbacks are so much fun to slip in at just the right places too!
