--Which character in your current WiP is hardest to write?

Oh, easy question this week: definitely Sami Zayn, who I never had great amounts of confidence writing anyway, and since he's shifted moral alignment I just... can't, really. I have no real idea why he's doing anything he's doing (or even WHAT he's doing, like there's a scene where he might have tried to trick and betray his friend, but there's no definite answer and they never address it again, so what the hell am I supposed to do with that?) So everything feels OOC and it's really frustrating. THUS THE SLOW WRITING. But I did get a few hundred words written this week, and there's hope for more this weekend! How about you, who's giving you fits at the moment?

Awww! That's so frustrating when the canon seems to make characters OOC! I'm glad you got some writing done though!!!

Clark, Bruce, Thor, and Loki are currently the hardest characters to write for me, so I'm just... not. I'm going to regret there here in a week or two, but that's a problem for fuuutuuuree meeeee.

Of things I am actually writing, I think I find Sanosuke's POV the hardest to write from and find more ease in Saitou, which is kind of weird, because Saitou is a really twisted and hard character to follow. Maybe that says something about me? Hahaha.

Writing is going okay, I talked myself into doing Kinktober, but I have no intentions of doing a prompt everyday and I'll be happy if I finish even one fic. XD

Hmm, I would have said Prince Toryn because I had so few scenes to really flesh him out but then last night I wrote a chapter where he became King and challenged his wife to actually vow to take care of the country. All with a mob at his back that would've torn them both to shreds if given half a chance. (This is Matriarchies of Muirin so he did it all in petticoats and lace with not one weapon to his name, just personality and sheer determination).

So now, I'm not sure. I think I'm going to have to go with Anwyn because, unlike everyone else in the story, she's got psychic powers that let her see and hear and do things that no one else (me included) can.

Hmm, big problem with Sami. Of course, it's also a huge opportunity. You can just say what his motivations are for the story and run with it. After all, other people's bad writing is an excuse to fix it. ;)

Hmm, I'd have to say Bruce is giving me fits lately. He's so stubborn! Dick is beside himself, poor dear.

BTW, given the recent events in canon, I feel some fic coming on with these two! Probably a fix-it, though at first it'll be mostly canon-based. If they cheat us of scenes of Bruce's reactions I'll flip! :)

If I had a full set of icons, there would be a Batman/Robin icon with this post. :)

I'm sorry to hear that canon is tripping you up, Mithen. But fanfic is for fix-its, so maybe you can work something out? Read the tea leaves and see what interpretation you can come up with! :)

Ah no, that's always a hurdle when canon makes it hard to see a character's motivations. :( I can imagine why that makes writing slow and complicated right now. I hope you can work through it and canon throws you something to work with again soon.

Recently I tried writing Cassandra Cain again and I still struggle to write her well. Now I'm back to Steve/Tony and making POV choices. Steve is usually a little harder to write for me than Tony because he plays his emotions so close to heart and keeps it all in and yet all his actions are very rooted in them and they become kind of the basis of his strategic mind. It depends on the canon and the moment in time how easy I find that to write.

Right now I have him in a pre-serum state and I find that the hardest to do well because he himself hates it and that weak body so much and that's very different to write from usual Steve.

Haha, how did future you get that worked out? Sami's actually got a much more consistent character now, I just don't... uh, like it. D: I'll just have to keep hoping he turns a corner and starts to be more how I remember and love him!

I LIKE HIM. And I'm so glad you found a hook into his character!

Bruce can be SUCH a pain to write sometimes! I find him either really easy or almost impossible, with very little in-between.

But fanfic is for fix-its, so maybe you can work something out? Read the tea leaves and see what interpretation you can come up with! :)

This has been a way to get pleasure from it all! We continue along with his character still not at all what I want, but I'm always hoping there's a light at the end of the tunnel...

Future me, that is now past me, did not get that worked out at all. xD I wrote Creeper/Joker instead and that is all I got done last year from those projects. XDD

Awww, Sami! That's like... Wow just unfair, really. xD I hope Sami comes back around to the character you know and love.

And I hear you about Steve as well, pre-serum! It's such a very different mind-state for him to be in compared to what we're used to...
