Oct. 7th, 2016 09:02 am--Care to share a favorite hurt/comfort fic of yours?
Or to talk about what you like and/or dislike in the h/c genre! I think my favorite h/c I've written is probably "Chalcedony," where Bruce has a high fever and starts using Biblical language from his childhood to talk about Clark, who is so worried that he's oblivious to what Bruce is implying. I like h/c best when you're in the point of view of the person not hurt and most of the point of the story is to watch the unhurt person suffering second-hand agonies over having to see the other person suffer, if that makes sense.
I have written little h/c this week, but lots and lots and lots of angst! Fun times! I hope your week has been going well (angstily or not) too!

Date: 2016-10-07 03:15 am (UTC)But when I need a pick-me-up I go for the Glasses verse by heartslogos and laugh until I feel better. I've got some of my own stories I'll re-read, too, plus I watch Gravity Falls. But yeah, hurt/comfort isn't my thing for the most part.
I do agree that watching someone else suffer is way better H/C than being the person suffering. All the lovely worry and taking care of them and all that.
No angst for me (yet)! The romance is going well. It's really fun writing people in their 40's starting their third careers. They have so much more of an idea of what to do and the angst that goes with first romances just isn't there. Sensible conversations about their feelings are happening! :D
That said, I've been lacking in time to write as much as I wanted but that can't be helped. Life is busy right now. I'm hoping it eases up a little but I don't expect that until December, honestly.
Good luck with your writing and your week!

Date: 2016-10-07 11:47 am (UTC)Oh, that can be shockingly fun to write, can't it? I really love when characters are on the verge of doing something stupid for the sake of drama and then go "OR we could handle this like mature adults and let the narrative tension come from some other source." :)
This time of year is the long slow (or sometimes abrupt) slide into chaos until everything comes crashing to a halt at the end of the year! May we both handle the slide with grace!
