Aw, my most recent essay got rejected (and after they said it would be printed, too!) The editorial staff got a little leery of how I was talking about race--it was an essay about a black female athlete, and obviously having to overcome extra obstacles because of that is a big part of who she is, so I felt like I couldn't talk about her without talking about that. If the editorial staff were uneasy about it, it's just as well it didn't get printed, but I'm still sad about it.

Back to the drawing board, I guess! How have things gone with you this week? Hopefully less rejection and more success!
