 --How and why did you choose the genre of your latest WiP?

I was going to say that people who write fic have the genre chosen for them, but of course that's not true! One of the joys of fic is bending the genre of the canon and exploring how the characters would behave in a different genre (most obviously switching it to a romance, for example!) I think the one I'm currently working on is sticking pretty close to canon, which in the case of the Gotham by Gaslight sequel I'm basing it on is a kind of superhero/Western hybrid. I'm not as well-versed in Western tropes, and maybe that's why I'm struggling to come up with a plot. Hmm, maybe I should go to TV Tropes and poke around their Western sections to find a trope that appeals with these characters!

Ha, ha, Western tropes are classic! Showdown in the street between gunslingers, cattle rustlers, barn dance... I'm sure you'll find something. That's a good idea to look in TV Tropes.

My WIP is just finished, and it was drama all the way. You know me, I like fluffy romance, but a mental hospital setting does not lend itself to such. Still, I did manage to insert some romance, though it would be too complicated to go into here. The mind is a strange thing.

The original canon actually has Clark in a gunfight in main street, it's really great! And the whole comic is kind of a Magnificent Seven setup leading to the Justice League being formed. Dan watched a lot of Westerns as a kid so he's been giving me some ideas!

I remember you working on a Shutter Island fic, right? It's the kind of creepy atmospheric setting you excel at writing, I think!
